HAND HYGIENE TRAIN THE TRAINERS PROGRAMME 2017

14-17 August 2017 @ Waterfront Hotel, Kuching Sarawak


Recognizing the importance of Hand Hygiene in preventing the Healthcare Associated Infection (HCAI), the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Center on Patient Safety Infection Control and Improving Practices, University of Geneva Hospital in collaboration with Ministry of Health Malaysia (Infection Control Unit, Medical Development Division) have conducted the Hand Hygiene Train the Trainers Program in Kuching, Sarawak from 14-17 August 2017.


We are privileged to have the expert, Professor Dr. Didier Pittet the Director of the Infection Control Program and WHO Collaborating Center on Patient Safety, University of Geneva Hospital and his team to share with us the importance of Hand Hygiene and to train all the participants on the Hand Hygiene Surveillance.



More than 80 participants from 34 public, 5 private, 2 Singapore Hospitals and 3 Ministry of Education institutes attended the program.


The 3 days program was followed by mini seminar "Clean Care is Safer Care: Worldwide Action, 2005-2017" Seminar which was officiated by Honorable Senator Datuk Dr. Professor Sim Kui Hian, Minister of Local Government and Housing Sarawak.



During the launching, the Sarawak State Health Director, YBrs. Dr. Jamilah Hashim, on behalf of all the Sarawak State Health Department pledged to address HCAI. This event was witnessed by Honorable Senator Datuk Dr. Professor Sim Kui Hian and Professor Dr. Didier Pittet.
